BAYAMON
Called "El Pueblo del Chicharrón". Bayamón was established as a town in May 22, 1772 by Juan Ramírez de Arrellano. Derives its name from a local Indian chief Bahamon, others claim that the name came from the Taíno word Bayamongo, which is the name of one of the rivers that cross the city.
