BARRANQUITAS

Called "Cuna de Próceres" (Cradle of Great People), Barranquitas was founded in 1804 by Antonio Aponte Ramos.

Casa Luis Muñoz Rivera
Tue-Fri 8am-3:30pm, Sat 8am-noon.
This museum was the home of Luis Muñoz Rivera and is dedicated
to his life. Part of the museum includes his 1914 Pierce Arrow (vary rare).

Casa Museo Joaquín de Rojas
Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm. Sat-Sun by reservation.
With its vaulted ceilings and expansive porch this house is an
 excellent example of a gracious residence of the time. Now open to the public.

Mausoleo Luis Muñoz Rivera

Mausoleum of one of Puerto Rico's most important thinkers and politicians.

Building started in 1804. Destroyed in 1825 during the Santa Ana
 hurricane, and in 1928 by the hurricane San Felipe II. The current church was erected in 1933.

San Cristóbal Canyon
Daily with guide.
Between Barranquitas and Aibonito, this beautiful canyon is almost,
 but not quite, inaccessible. This is Indiana Jones stuff. Some tour operators offer organized trips.
