Called "La Villa del Ojo de Agua". Aguadilla was founded 1775 by Luis de Córdova. Aguadilla derives its name from a name given by the Indians "Guadilla or Guadiya" which means garden.

Banyan Tree House

Located next to the La Cruz de Colón, this huge tree
house is woven throughout
an even larger
Banyan tree. Remarkably, the tree house is freestanding
and is
not attached to the tree in any manner. Great for the kids.

El Faro Punta Borinquen
Lighthouse on the north end of town. Closed
to the public, but may be seen from
the road.

Lookout point with a commanding view

Las Ruinas del Viejo Faro Español
The ruins of a classic Spanish lighthouse. The round
foundation of the tower is
set exactly in the
center of a rectangular building. A beautiful spot.

Monumento a Rafael Hernández
Monument honoring one of Puerto Rico's greatest statesmen.

New monument to the fishermen. At the first small plaza.

The biggest aquatic theme park of the Caribbean
is located Highway #2 in front
of the city stadium.
Different attractions this park has to offer such as: the Crazy River,

Beaches
Gas Chamber
One of Aguadilla's most famous surfing areas.
There is very little parking and
no beach area, just coral.

Parque El Canto de Las Piedras
Small beach area with rock outcroppings and
benches. Reached by walking down the
path
north of the cemetery and between the houses.

Playa Crash Boat
A popular sports beach and dive spot
located just north of Aguadilla on the west
coast,
backed right up to the cliffs behind the golf course.

Playa de Colón
Set in Aguadilla's major public park.

Playa La Ponderosa
In front of Las Ruinas del Viejo Faro Español.

Playa Manglito
Small beach area, just north of Gas Chamber. There is some parking in the trees
just east of the beach.

Playa Peña Blanca (Wishing Well)
Small beach and circular sitting area (on a small rise next to the beach).

Playa Rompeolas
This is the beach at the Aguadilla harbor. You
will find fishing boats pulled up
along the shoreline.

Playa Tamarindo
Beautiful hidden beach, in the city of Aguadilla. Next to the
Playa El Canto de las Piedras. Here you will find the Club Náutico.

Playa Wilderness
A very large tree-lined beach and major surfing
spot, past Las Ruinas del Viejo
Faro Español.

Surfer's Beach
Large tree-lined beach area at the northwest tip of the Island.

Top and Survivor surfing areas are found at the
northern end of the beach. To
find the beach, ask locally for specific directions.
