AGUADA

Called "La Villa de Sotomayor", Aguada was founded around 1508-1510 by Cristóbal de Sotomayor.

Ermita Espinar Ruins

Built in 1525 on behalf of the Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepción
to convert the Taíno Indians. A new Parroquia La Inmaculada Concepción
 is built around the ruins so you need to
go when the church is open. Well worth a stop.

Museo de Aguada

Mon-Fri 8am-noon. Weekends by reservation.
Former train station and grounds converted into a museum complex
 including Taíno Indian and African art, santos, railroad artifacts,
 period rooms, a sugarcane switch engine, hand cart and antique irons.
 Very impressive. Call City Hall for tours of the museum and the Ermita Espinar Ruins.

Visiting hours Mon-Fri 6:30am-11am. Mass held daily.
With two towers standing over 100 feet tall, this is one of the most
 impressive churches in Puerto Rico. Built between 1924
and 1936, the stained glass window is a work of art.
