Cesar Andreu Iglesias

He was born in Ponce the 31 of July of 1915. He studied  the first and second education in his native town and San Juan. He obtained, in 1949, the baccalaureate in Social Sciences in the University of Puerto Rico. He was one of the founders of Puerto Rican the Independentista Party in 1946, and in 1959, did the same obtained with the Movement Pro Independence. In 1950, he directed the periodic Truth, origin of the Puerto Rican Communist Party. In 1951, he published a series of tests of historical-political-social interest with the title Independence and socialism. In his work summit, the defeated ones (1956), Andréu Iglesais draws up the life of a nationalist who lives and dreams his ideal in the middle of the political jaw of the time. Nació en Ponce el 31 de julio de 1915. Cursó estudios de primera y segunda enseñanza en su pueblo natal y en San Juan. Obtuvo, en 1949, el bachillerato en Ciencias Sociales en la Universidad de Puerto Rico.

Fue uno de los fundadores del Partido Independentista Puertorriqueño en 1946, y en 1959, logró lo mismo con el Movimiento Pro Independencia.

En 1950, dirigió el periódico Verdad, órgano del Partido Comunista Puerto-rriqueño.

En 1951, publicó una serie de ensayos de interés histórico-político-social con el título Independencia y socialismo.

En su obra cumbre, Los derrotados (1956), Andréu Iglesias traza la vida de un nacionalista que vive y sueña su ideal en medio de la mordaza política de la época. Esta obra fue premiada por el Instituto de Literatura Puertorriqueña. En ella, el autor presenta el conflicto ...
